Identify a specimen Fossil collecting is a rewarding hobby but the identification of specimens can be extremely difficult. Most books will give you an illustrated description of all the common species but this requires some knowledge of which main fossil group yours falls into. This area is intended to enable beginners to find out broadly the type of creature their fossil represents and access more specific information about species.
