Identify a specimen... Blastoids Blastoidea

Blastoids are extinct echinoderms that were anchored to objects in the sea, some with stems. Delicate arms protruded from around a mouth through which sea. They can be found in rocks up to Permian age but especially those from the Carboniferous, when they were most abundant.

They are often found with corals, crinoids, sea urchins and brachiopods, sometimes in crinoidal limestone, but are less common than all of these in Britain.
